Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man at the same time

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth (John 1:14).

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:5-11)

Basic truth:

Jesus Christ is the God-man, one person possessing two natures, both fully God and fully man at the same time.

Discussion:

1. The two natures of Christ (divine and human) are united in one person, without confusion, conversion, division, or separation. He did not have two separate personalities. His humanity did not limit his deity, and his deity did not change his humanity.

2. His two natures were united at the Incarnation (John 1:14).

3. The incarnation took place by means of the virgin conception and birth (Luke 1:30 35). The virgin birth was necessary so that Christ would not have any sin nature.

4. When Christ became human, He “emptied” Himself of the voluntary or independent use of His divine attributes (Philippians 2:5 7; 1 Corinthians 11:3). The theological term is “kenosis.” Although He subordinated Himself, He continued to be equal in essence with the other persons of the Godhead.

5. The union of Christ’s two natures is permanent (1 Timothy 2:5).

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not (John 1:9-11).
